FAITH Catholic welcomes new team members; promotes two in tech services

September 30 , 2016

FAITH Catholic President and CEO Patrick M. O’Brien announced several additions and promotions within the team at the Lansing-based publishing and communications firm, including the hiring of a seasoned advertising manager who will help expand the company’s service footprint to include print and digital advertising sales.

Tom Gaskin, Advertising Sales Manager, comes to FAITH Catholic with years of ad sales experience from such well-known brands as Mlive, The Wall Street Journal, Time, Good Housekeeping and Country Living. A Lansing native and graduate of Lansing Catholic High School, Tom earned a B.A. in communications from Michigan State University before embarking on a successful career in advertising and marketing.

“We have been looking for someone with Tom’s skill set for quite a while,” said President and CEO Patrick M. O’Brien. “Our publications represent a unique opportunity to reach a very engaged target audience, so we looked specifically for someone with Tom’s sales experience as well as his familiarity with the Church in order to connect us with the right advertisers.” In addition to launching a full ad component for Lansing’s FAITH magazine, the advertising sales department will provide sales services to other titles in the FAITH family of publications.

Tech staff grows, responsibilities expand

Mike Jones was promoted to Digital Experience Manager and Solution Architect, a title O’Brien calls the “trendiest” title at FAITH Catholic. “However, I think it is one of the most important. Mike is in charge of mapping out and developing our digital publishing business,” O’Brien said, “and this is the area in which we know we will grow in the near term.” Working under the direction of the company’s Digital Task Force, Jones is evaluating FAITH Catholic’s capacity in responsive design websites, digital publishing using Content Station and Drupal sites, and structured data, which includes cloud-based applications such as our online directories. “Mike has so many strategic strengths, it’s amazing. We are so lucky to have a person like him to help move us into this digital world,” O’Brien said.

Larry Ford was promoted to IT Administrator. His role is to oversee the technology systems for both FAITH Catholic and the Diocese of Lansing. Joining the IT team is Peter Frahm as Technology Support. Peter already was a FAITH Catholic employee, having worked on the Outreach Mass team. His new role will primarily be to give tech support to the diocesan central staff.
